In March 2020, my family began to shelter-in-place. We would walk our neighbourhood, photographing details of flowers and plants. Spring was in full bloom and, like many people, the natural world became our balm. She felt like the only certainty in a deep well of uncertainty. The flowers bloomed and the tides continued to ebb and flow. We leaned on her reliability.
I started to sketch some of the flowers we would see. Drawing florals became my salve, my meditation.
I hope that my collection of botanical paintings can offer solace during uncertain times and a gentle reminder that our human existence is interdependent on the natural world. Sending love. xo
